North Slope Summer Leadership Camp

Dear students:

We are pleased to announce that the NORTH SLOPE SUMMER LEADERSHIP CAMP will be held in Barrow July 25-29th. Participants will fly into Barrow either Sunday evening (July 24th), with the NSSLC Camp getting underway at noon on Monday July 25th and wrapping up Friday night July 29th. Campers will return home Saturday, July 30th.

Local coaches, youth volunteers, chaperones, and elders will run the camp. Chris Battle (cbattle@tagsportandspeed.com or 907.878.2670) will serve as Camp Coordinator, and is your key contact between now and the camp.

Campers will choose between basketball, football, volleyball, cross-country, wrestling, cheerleading sports, and arts. Participants will receive leadership classes in “real life” issues to help them achieve their dreams. Get ready to be inspired, get challenged and to have fun!

Background

We look forward to our fifth annual summer camp here on the North Slope. We have a great need in our communities to develop leadership and positive youth behavior. The NSSLC camp is an opportunity for kids to push themselves, to mature, and to bring a positive message back to their communities.

Who can come?

Students that completed 7th through 11th grade in the spring of 2011.

Deadline Return the registration form to the Village Liaison as soon as possible and no later than July 25, 2011.

Registration

Enclosed, please find all student registration forms. Please complete and return them to the Village Liaison. After your completed registration is received by the NSBSD, we will send you a confirmation letter confirming your slot.

The registration fee for camp is $25, payable at time of registration. Food, lodging, and transportation will be provided to the youth participants.
