High School Graduation
High school students must complete the District’s required coursework and pass state required examinations to graduate and receive a diploma. Students who complete the District’s graduation requirements but do not pass the state required High School Graduation Qualifying Examination (HSGQE) will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

High School Graduation Requirements
Students shall receive diplomas of graduation from high school after meeting the following graduation requirements:
Subject/Units of Credit
Language Arts 4.0
Social Studies 3.0 (.5 required in US Government and .5 in Alaska History)
Mathematics 4.0
Science 3.0
Health 1.0
Physical Education 1.0
Electives 6.0
Total Credits Required: 22.0
Students must also meet the requirements for passing the Alaska High School Graduation Qualifying Examination.
Students must complete at least six semesters of high school attendance in order to qualify for graduation. Students who meet all the District and State graduation requirements but have completed less than eight semesters of high school attendance must submit a letter of endorsement signed by the student’s parent/guardian to the site administrator in order to qualify for graduation.
The site administrator and school counselor shall regularly inform high school students and parents/guardians of current student status and progress toward attaining graduation credits by use of report cards, student profiles, parent conferences and other means as appropriate.
