Welcome

Welcome to Tikigaq School

Tikigaq School was established at Point Hope in the 1960s by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A new school building was built in 1980. The school gets its name from an Iñupiaq word for a geographic point that is located near Point Hope. Point Hope has always had a long tradition of being known for a whaling village.  Thus the school mascot, the Harpooners. The village holds a whaling festival every spring to celebrate the whaling season.
