After winning regionals, the Nunamiut girls basketball team left for the Alaska 1A State Basketball Championship Tournament in Anchorage. The first game they played was against Kalskag girls and we beat them by 41 points. The semi-final game was against Buckland. That game was scary because the Lady Wolves only won by 3 points. That game led us to the championship game the next day. The championship game meant a lot to the Lady Wolves! They had to play against King Kove girls. The King Kove Rookies weren't as tough as the Buckland Belugas. The championship game gave the Lady Wolves the victory and with only five players! (Sevianna Wagner, Violet Kakinya, Rhoda Mekiana, Amanilla Hugo, and Kayla Hopson) The Lady Wolves won by 7 points! That was the first ever state title for the Wolves!
