School Staff
Alak School has 15 full-time certified staff members, one is funded by a Title I grant and one is a school counselor. There is a full-time principal and 20 classified staff. Many staff members are local residents. The classified staffing is broken down according to the following:

Grades K3/K4 (preschool) and Kindergarten have full-time paraprofessionals assigned to their classrooms. Two Middle School Teachers teach grades 6th - 8th. Teachers in secondary classrooms teach grades 9 through 12 in order to better utilize certifications and areas of specialization. There is one full-time Special Services teacher and a half time Special Services teacher with two full-time paraprofessionals, a full-time Inupiaq language teacher with a part time paraprofessional, and a full-time Counselor.
Alak School has a School Advisory Council (SAC) made up of five community members that meets once each month to oversee school policies and programs. The council serves as a liaison with the community. They advise the school about issues in the community and provide support for school programs. The SAC approves the school's calendar each year through a process that includes surveying the community.
