Fred K. Ipalook was born on January 11, 1911.

He was a devoted and strict man who loved to teach. He was strict because he believed in the importance of education for all children.

He taught at the Barrow Day School for forty years. He became a principal after twenty years of teaching.

In order to become a teacher, he completed his education by using a candle to read and study home courses. He taught himself many things through books and listening to what others had to offer.

In addition to teaching he wrote journals to enhance his writing abilities, as well as his English. He also translated and wrote for the community, which benefited the people.

He was a devoted husband and father for his family. He had nine children. He cared for three grandchildren and adopted his granddaughter despite his work and family.

His hobbies were repairing watches, reading daily devotional books, and playing the piano at the church services.

Fred K. Ipalook was a hard working and great man.

He is respectfully remembered on this Principals Day in Ipalook Elementary School, named in his honor.
