This peninsula is one of the longest continually inhabited areas in North America.

Point Hope is the second largest city on the North Slope with a population of 805 and a labor force 356. Many residents of Point Hope are well known for the arts and crafts they make and sell.

Tikigaq School provides education from pre-school to grade 12 and offers adult basic education classes. The school population consists of about 293 students.
