New User Tips / Existing User Best Practices
How to keep your data safe and organized;
Store all your data / files on the designated network drives.
- H Drive: This network drive is only accessible to you. You can store all your files here that do not have to be shared with other users. (100MB Limit)
- O Drive: This network drive is accessible to all staff members. Store files here that you want to share with your co-workers
- T: Drive: This network drive is accessible to the students. Store files here that you want to share with your students.
- C: Drive (Your Local Client): This drive would be the place to store your Music, Pictures, and Private / Personal files. Please note that the C: drive is not backed up by the NSBSD Technology Department.
Software Installations and downloads;
Please be very selective when installing software. The NSBSD supplies a host of software products to facilitate your work needs, Installing any other software packages might have undesirable effects on the stability of your computer or the network.
* Software that was not supplied by the NSBSD will not be supported by the Technology Department.
* Software that interferes with the operations of the network or the attached clients will be removed.
* All installed software must be properly licensed.
Internet Use;
All Internet traffic is filtered and monitored for inappropriate and undesirable content. Contact the Technology Department if you feel a web site has been blocked in error.
Email Use;
All Email traffic is filtered and monitored for SPAM, Inappropriate, and Undesirable content. Contact the Technology Department if you suspect you are not receiving work related emails that have been send to you.
There is a 100MB limit on email.
Viruses and Spyware;
The Technology Department scans all files and email for viruses. If your computers virus definitions are out of date the Symantec Anti Virus program will warn you about this. Please contact the Technology Department immediately after receiving this warning.
Please be very selective in Downloading files from the internet and opening email attachments.
Question and Suggestions;
Please direct all your technology related questions to the site tech in your school. The site tech will escalated calls to the technology department when needed.
