Ms. Robin Crissey

A little about me - this is my 17th year as a classroom teacher. My family and I are happy to be back in the North Slope after four years of being away. I am originally from Oregon and we lived there the past 2 years, but most of my career has been spent living and teaching all over. I started off as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand, where I met my Thai husband. I then proceeded to earn my Master’s degree while teaching 1st and 3rd grade on the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. We then returned to Thailand with our first daughter Ghinali (who is now in 9th grade) and I taught Preschool at American-curriculum international schools. We then returned to the states and came to Alaska, then with 2 daughters, (our younger daughter Amata is now in 5th grade). I taught in a  K-12th one-room/one-teacher school on an island in the Kodiak chain in a logging camp. Later I taught ECE, Kindergarten, and 1st grade in Chevak and Nuiqsut. We then moved to Uganda, Africa where I taught Kindergarten at a British-curriculum international school and where we adopted our youngest child, our son Hanuman, who is in 1st grade this year. We are now here and intend to stay a while, and I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and your children this year!
