Stephanie Milner

Hello Everyone! My name is Stephanie Milner. I am the 4th Grade Teacher at Alak School.

2018/2019 marks my 11th year as a teacher!   I am a two time graduate from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX, and just graduated May 2018 with my Master's of Education in Educational Administration.  I completed this program while working here with NSBSD.  It was a very rewarding challenge.  I graduated with a 4.0 GPA!  I believe strongly in being a lifelong learner.  My goal is to become an Assistant Principal, then Principal one day, and even perhaps a Superintendent. I taught for several years in Texas as an Elementary Bilingual (Spanish)/ESL teacher.  I was raised in a bilingual and bicultural home. In Texas I taught Pre-K, as well as 4th Grade.  After my teaching time in Texas, I then went overseas and taught in the United Arab Emirates for two years in Abu Dhabi. I taught 4th grade in the UAE.   I returned to the US in 2013, and then taught Bilingual 3rd Grade in Colorado. I have been in Alaska since January 2015, and haven't looked back. I taught K/1 in Iditarod Area School District, specifically in McGrath. I then moved on to Hydaburg, AK which is located in the far Southeast area on Prince of Wales Island. I taught 4/5 there.  I have a home there on Prince of Wales Island.  That is where family and dogs are located.  It is very beautiful there and is in the Tongass National Rainforest. There is trophy black bear and Sitka deer hunting on POW as well as world renown fishing.  This will be my 3rd year in Wainwright.  I enjoy the North Slope, and love our friendly community!

4th Graders at Alak rock!  I place a great deal of accountability and high expectations with students.  Please see my classroom information.  We are wrapping up another busy school year.  Thank you for the opportunity to work with your students.  Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.  Quyanakpak. Gracias. Thank you.
