Yvette “Paiyuraq” Cross

Yvette Cross, is returning to the District where she began her teaching career as an elementary Kindergarten Paraprofessional at Ipalook in 1992. She has 26 years teaching experience in Utqiagvik, Anchorage and Point Hope. She holds a B.Ed. K-8 from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Master’s Degrees in Special Education K-12 and Education Administration K-12 from Grand Canyon University. Yvette completed the majority of her undergraduate work through the Cross-Cultural Education Program in Kiana in the Northwest Arctic. She was a student teacher in Kotzebue, where many of her relatives still reside. All of her experience has been in Alaska. She has taught at both the Secondary and Elementary levels and has served as a Special Education teacher. She is excited to join the Meade River community.

Yvette has five children; her youngest sons will attend Meade River School and her husband and two dogs will accompany her as well.
