Welcome to Barrow High School in Utiqagvik…home of the Whalers! My name is Robbie L. Swint, Jr., and I am the new principal at Barrow High School. This year at BHS, I want to do the impossible with our students regarding their academics. There are three (3) simple rules I live by: 1) It is not how you start, but how you finish is the key to success in life; 2) QTIP, quit taking it personal; and 3) Find your passion in life as it will make every day special.

I am a Georgia Native; however, I graduated high school in Killeen, Texas. After high school, I joined the military and served for over 14 years. I have worked as a Behavioral Specialist that led me to becoming an educator. I began my teaching career as a middle school teacher in Georgia.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. I have a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently, I am a doctoral student at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

My wife, Natasha and I have four children: Robbie, III; Rayna; Ramia; and Rylin. Ramia and Rylin were born in Germany. In addition, we have a beautiful 5 months old granddaughter: Kathryn Rae. Robbie, III (Trey) and Rayna have graduated from high school and both are in college. Ramia is an 8th grade student at Hopson Middle School and Rylin is a 5th grade student at Ipalook Elementary School. We are very excited about being here in Utiqagvik, and we are looking forward to experiencing the Inupiaq culture, language and history. In my spare time, I like to watch and play sports and read. Finally, my wife and I are enjoying our new granddaughter.
