Principal Robert "R.J." JohnsonThis school year mark’s Robert "R.J." Johnson's 8th year as an administrator on the North Slope and 18th year as a public school educator in Alaska, with 17 of those years with the North Slope Borough School District. Previous stops in Alaska included working at David Louis Memorial School in Grayling, Alaska as a teacher; Meade River School in Atqasuk, Alaska as a teacher; Barrow High School as the assistant principal and athletic director; and at the Kiita Learning Community as the Principal.
Mr. Johnson is originally from the Great Plains where he grew up and went to school. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota with Bachelor Degrees in Communication Disorders and History. He earned his Master's Degree from the University of Colorado/Denver in Educational Administration/Leadership.
Family and sports have been Mr. Johnson's strongest interests outside of work. Traveling in the summer and Christmas breaks with his wife to visit his family on the Great Plains is Mr. Johnson's newest hobby.
