We ask that everyone take the time to talk to our children about the dangers of thin ice around the lagoon in Utqiaġvik, as well as all bodies of water in the villages across the North Slope. Please remind children about the uncertainty of the thickness of the ice along with the danger in playing near the edge of the ice and what might happen if the ice breaks. Your help in reminding children about these dangers at this time of year is greatly appreciated!
