DANGER - THIN ICEThe uncertainty of the thickness of the ice, along the edges of the lagoon or river, and the danger of students playing near the edge, with children not knowing, or understanding the risk that the thin film of ice can break, is why it is important to remind children the dangers of think ice.  Freeze up has not yet occurred and lakes and rivers are dangerous.  Traveling on thin ice by foot, bike or snowmachine can cause the ice to break.  Shallow lakes, lagoon, and rivers can still cause those who fall through the thin ice to be caught under and drown.
