COVID-19

The North Slope Borough School District will continue to provide food and educational services to student on Monday, March 30, 2020.

Yesterday North Slope Borough Mayor Harry Brower announced that the unrestricted entry into the North Slope Borough communities of Utqiagvik (Barrow), Point Hope, Point Lay, Wainwright, Atqasuk, Nuiqsut, Anaktuvuk Pass and Kaktovik of all travelers is hereby suspended, the order is in effective at 12:01 a.m. Alaska daylight time on March 28, 2020.

The State has defined educational institutions providing distance education as critical, as such the NSBSD will continue to operate meal programs and distance education.  These functions still require social distancing so we ask that everyone continuing to receive meals or educational materials respect the six foot social distancing mandate.  You can find the State mandates at https://gov.alaska.gov/home/covid19-healthmandates/

The employees of the NSBSD have worked very hard to revamp the normal educational delivery system and we appreciate their dedication. We also want to thank our communities for their patience as this is a very challenging situation. We want everyone to remain safe and take care of each other.
