Traveling on rivers and lakes by snow machine and/or on foot when the ice is thin can cause you to break through. Even though the lakes and rivers are sometimes shallow, you can still get caught under the ice and drown.
PLEASE, remind students to not ride or walk on thin ice!
We ask everyone to help with talking to children about lagoon safety. The uncertainty of the thickness of the ice along with the danger in playing near the edge are tempting to children who don’t always think ahead of what might happen if the ice breaks. Your help in reminding children about the dangers of the lagoon this time of year is greatly appreciated!
