BHS Announcements

  • 4-6-18 Message from Dr. McKenzie and Mr. Stanford:

For Parents of Seniors:  All seniors expecting to walk on May 5th for graduation, students MUST have passing grades for all of the courses they need to complete to graduate.  There are also a number of scholarships available to seniors IF they complete the application before the deadlines.  PLEASE contact Doug Dye for more information.  There are scholarships for Community Service, Academics, and other areas.

For Parents of Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors:  All students planning or thinking about participating in sports and activities next school year, they MUST pass 5 out of the 6 classes they are taking this semester AND have a semester GPA of 2.0 or higher.  All sports and activities for the school year start next semester (Football, Cross Country, Football Cheer, Volleyball, Wrestling, Basketball, and Basketball Cheer; as well as, Student Government and other activities that are schoolwide and require eligibility).

In order to be available for assistance to all students for the remainder of the semester, there is a bus available at 5:15 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to take students home after they get help and tutoring.  Students and Parents should communicate with teachers to make sure of teacher availability before and after school.  Parents have the opportunity to follow PowerSchool for student attendance and academics.  If Parents need assistance with this, please contact Liz Taylor (   Students DO NOT have to be registered with the bus barn to ride this bus at 5:15.

We want every student to pass and succeed and as everybody knows….the student must do the work needed to earn the grade for the class.  Teachers are here for the students if the students need assistance.

Physical Forms are available in the BHS office for the parent to complete and sign before the physical can be completed.  Any student participating in a sports activity MUST have an up to date and completed physical before he/she can practice.  Sports practices starting BEFORE school starts in August are Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Football Cheer.  There will be more information about conditioning clinics and summer activities for any current 8-11th grade student.

    Thank you,

Dr. Sherry McKenzie and Mr. Ronnie Stanford
