Aanauraq Lillian Lane Johnson
It's an honor and a privilege to sit in as the Dean of Students at the Tikiġaq School to serve both the students, staff and community. I am a proud Iñupiaq, born to Amos and Eunice Lane of Point Hope. I have a wonderful, loving husband, Pastor UL Johnson. We have nine children and 24 beautiful grandbabies.
My education started at Point Hope Day School. I went to Wrangell Institute for my junior high years, and continued high school at Mount Edgecumbe at Sitka. I received my BA for Elementary Education at Sheldon Jackson College. I was employed with the NSBSD as the middle/high school Iñupiaq teacher, and many other years as a teacher's aide for the Iñupiaq department.
Many of us have dreams, but were not fulfilled. I want to encourage others to not give up on pursuing their dreams. I may not have participated in the World Olympics, but I have taken part in the Native Youth Olympics and World Eskimo Indian Olympics and I held records for quite some time. Records are made to be broken! I never made it to WNBA, but I played college basketball and I was told that I am the oldest NCAA basketball player. I have an athletic award named after me at Mount Edgecumbe High School, which I am very proud of.
I love to sew, sing, dance and spend time outside when weather allows me to.
My job is to make sure that all children are safe and have a comfortable learning atmosphere. I would like every parent/guardian who has a child at Tikigaq School to make time with their children's education.
GO FIGHT, TIKIGAQ HARPOONERS!!!!
