K12 School Closure until March 30

K12 School Closure

COVID-19 Coronavirus

The announcement from Governor Dunleavy states that all K12 schools will be closed until March 30. All staff will still report to their duty stations on Monday, March 16 with the goal of developing further educational platforms in case of further closures. During this time, teacher inservice days will count toward student contact days. In addition, all after school activities will be cancelled during this time. This is a very fluid situation where we will be providing further guidance as we determine next steps.

The North Slope Borough School District is suspending student and staff off-slope travel. This will begin immediately and will last for the foreseeable future. While youth seem to be resilient to the COVID-19 virus, we know that youth can, and will, interact with higher risk community members. These measures are to help protect our students and communities from any spread. We currently have several staff and student groups that are off-slope this weekend. We are working to ensure their safe return as quickly as possible.

The announcement can be found here.

Thank you for your resilience through this process.
